Unitend Technologies Inc. (the Company hereafter) is a professional Universal Transport Interface (UTI) technology firm established through collective efforts of the National Government, Tsinghua University, and other industrial partners. The Company joined hands with Tsinghua University to launch the Tsinghua-Unitend Digital TV CA Separation Research Institute for the industrialization and marketing promotion and applications of UTI technology. The Company is specialized in developing and manufacturing UTI-based series of technology and products such as UTI core chips, UTI cards, UTI foundation software, and UTI system solutions. The Company is Initiator and Secretariat of the China UTI Consortium, and it’s mainly focus on the promotion of the UTI standards and building of a UTI Alliance. Simutaneously, as a key member of the China DRM Standards Group, the Company retains the core DRM technologies and products. Unitend Technology, on the basis of China’s independent innovation, is actively acquiring advanced technologies from all over the world, and have been successful in developing a series of highly marketable UTI products that meet actual needs of their users.

The T-USB chip for UTI standard interface introduced by the company was the first USB-2.0 interface chip in the world specially designed for digital TV applications, widely recognized by industrial players for its exceptional quality, performance as well as flexibility and convenience in application development. It is the first choice for interface expansion on TV sets and set-top boxes. “Lower cost” and “higher performance” are the two directions in which the Company is developing its UTI chip products.

The UTI-enhanced CA card developed by the company is not only a simple CA module, but one for diversified value-added applications for different regional markets. Together with channel modules, it can adapt to all sorts of channel standards at low costs, which for the first time enables the nationwide deployment of unitary digital TV sets, and bridges the divide between digital TV operators under huge financial pressure and long-awaiting color TV set manufacturers. The more than 30 member operators and manufacturers in the UTI Consortium are substantially benefiting from such technology. 

The modem-embedded, and UTI-enhanced CA card successfully introduced by the Company is able to instantly convert the astronomical personal computers already in service into hyper-capacity DTV terminals, which leads to optimal integration of content-rich broadcasting operators and PC software and hardware manufacturers known for their innovation. It would be the best news for PC users who desire high-quality and interactive digital TV programs.

The Company also accomplished demonstrative designs and development tools for software and hardware applicable unitary devices that combine UTI set-top boxes and TV sets. This resulted in reduced workload, lower cost, and quicker time-to-market for member manufacturers in the UTI Alliance. Thanks to increasingly rich applications software created by the UTI Alliance, the digital TV sector has entered a new era of vigorous and scalable applications. The UTI technology is based on open standards, and Unitend is ready to provide all necessary supports and services to new and existing members of the UTI Alliance.
